# Sui Knowledge Base (kapa.ai)

Semantic search over Sui documentation and related knowledge sources, powered by kapa.ai. Useful when your agent writes Sui code and needs answers straight from the docs.

## What it does

The server connects to the remote endpoint `https://sui.mcp.kapa.ai` and answers questions about Sui documentation. Search is semantic, so it matches meaning rather than exact words. Ask it how to define an owned object and it returns the relevant docs section instead of a file list.

It runs over HTTP, so there is nothing to host locally. No API key or token is needed either. Setup is one command per platform: in Claude run `claude mcp add --transport http sui-kapa https://sui.mcp.kapa.ai`, in Codex run `codex mcp add sui-knowledge-base-kapaai --url https://sui.mcp.kapa.ai`. Cursor, GitHub Copilot and Gemini CLI take a config snippet or their own add command.

The scope is narrow: Sui and Move only. On an unrelated stack it gives you nothing. For Sui contract work that narrowness is the point, because models tend to mix up API versions and pull in outdated examples.

## Requirements
- Remote server: `https://sui.mcp.kapa.ai`

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http sui-kapa https://sui.mcp.kapa.ai
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add sui-knowledge-base-kapaai --url https://sui.mcp.kapa.ai
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "sui-knowledge-base-kapaai": {
            "url": "https://sui.mcp.kapa.ai"
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "sui-knowledge-base-kapaai": {
            "type": "http",
            "url": "https://sui.mcp.kapa.ai"
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http sui-knowledge-base-kapaai https://sui.mcp.kapa.ai
```

## When to use it
- find a current example of working with Sui objects
- check Move syntax before writing a contract
- understand Sui architecture without reading the whole docs site
- verify how transactions and gas work in Sui
- get a link to the right docs section from a plain description

## Example prompts
- Find how to create an owned object in Sui and show a Move example
- How does gas payment work in Sui? Link me to the docs section
- Check my Move contract against the current Sui documentation
