## What it does

This server routes agent queries into 36 subject domains supplied by 160+ primary sources, including central banks and national statistics agencies. Instead of hallucinating numbers, the agent pulls verified series for commodities, equities, inflation, or maritime conditions. Each payload returns provenance metadata, timestamped freshness, and quota cost.

Eight core tools handle catalog discovery, entity matching, current snapshots, and historical time series. The catalog itself is bundled directly into the package. Because of this, searching for endpoints happens locally without triggering outbound HTTP calls. Network traffic occurs solely when retrieving actual metrics.

Running locally through stdio requires `uvx` and an explicit `SUGRA_API_KEY` environment variable. Without that key, local data requests fail. Alternatively, agents can connect directly to the hosted HTTP endpoint at `https://app.sugra.ai/mcp` without local package management.

## Requirements
- Needs: Python and uv (commands run via uvx)
- Remote server: `https://app.sugra.ai/mcp`
- Environment variables: `SUGRA_API_KEY` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http api-mcp https://app.sugra.ai/mcp
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add --env SUGRA_API_KEY=<SUGRA_API_KEY> --transport stdio sugra-api -- uvx sugra-api-mcp
```
Replace <…> with your own values. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from sugra-api-mcp <command>

### Codex

1. **Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add sugra-api --url https://app.sugra.ai/mcp
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add sugra-api --env SUGRA_API_KEY=<SUGRA_API_KEY> -- uvx sugra-api-mcp
```
Replace <…> with your own values. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from sugra-api-mcp <command>

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "sugra-api": {
            "url": "https://app.sugra.ai/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

        "sugra-api": {
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "sugra-api-mcp"
            ],
            "env": {
                "SUGRA_API_KEY": "<SUGRA_API_KEY>"
            }
        }
    }
}
```
Replace <…> with your own values. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from sugra-api-mcp <command>
### GitHub Copilot
**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "sugra-api": {
            "type": "http",
            "url": "https://app.sugra.ai/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
            }
        }
    }
}
```
Replace <…> with your own values. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from sugra-api-mcp <command>

### Gemini CLI

1. **Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http sugra-api https://app.sugra.ai/mcp
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add -e SUGRA_API_KEY=<SUGRA_API_KEY> sugra-api uvx sugra-api-mcp
```
Replace <…> with your own values. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from sugra-api-mcp <command>

## When to use it
- compile macro tables comparing inflation and central bank interest rates
- pull equity price histories alongside data freshness timestamps
- screen corporate entities against sanctions lists and resolve LEI codes
- collect shipping and weather observations across regional trade lanes

## Example prompts
- Compare G7 inflation figures and central bank policy rates over the past twelve months.
- Fetch the current market snapshot and one-year price history for NVIDIA with source citations.
- Run a sanctions screening check on this supplier and resolve its LEI identity.
