## What it does

StockMarketScan is a remote MCP server at `https://mcp.stockmarketscan.com/mcp` speaking HTTP/SSE. It ships 18 tools grouped by purpose: three screeners (`list_screeners`, `get_screener_data`, `search_stocks_in_screeners`), two for chart patterns, four for options flow, two for stock info and candles, two composite ones (`get_stock_report`, `search_setups`), three for market context and one teaching tool (`explain_concept`). A `ping` tool handles liveness checks.

Auth is BYOK. The server keeps no key of its own; each client sends your personal `sms_*` value in the `X-API-Key` header. It validates that key once per session, then proxies tool calls to `api/v1/*` on your behalf. Rate limits and quota stay under your control, and you can rotate the key whenever you like in settings. A Basic or Pro plan is required, and the options flow tools only open up with the Options Flow add-on.

Limits differ by tier: Basic allows 15 requests per minute and 500 per day, Pro allows 30 per minute and 2,000 per day. A missing or expired key means the tools simply return nothing, so check that header first when the tool list looks empty. You can also run the server from source: `npm install`, then `npm run dev` for stdio or `npm run dev:http` for HTTP/SSE on port 3333.

## Requirements
- Remote server: `https://mcp.stockmarketscan.com/mcp`

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport sse stockmarketscan https://mcp.stockmarketscan.com/mcp
```

### Codex

**Codex**
- Codex connects MCP servers over stdio and streamable HTTP only, and this server speaks SSE

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "stockmarketscan": {
            "url": "https://mcp.stockmarketscan.com/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "stockmarketscan": {
            "type": "sse",
            "url": "https://mcp.stockmarketscan.com/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t sse stockmarketscan https://mcp.stockmarketscan.com/mcp
```

## When to use it
- find tickers that show up in more than one screener
- review a stock's options flow history over the past month
- filter for stocks forming a specific chart pattern
- pull a single combined report on one ticker
- spot unusual options activity

## Example prompts
- Which tickers are in both hot-prospects and golden-cross today?
- Build a full report on NVDA covering screeners, patterns, options flow and market context.
