## What it does

Steam MCP Server exposes Steam data through MCP. An agent can search for games, inspect prices, discounts, genres, age ratings, reviews, and store news. Store queries work without a credential, so basic discovery needs only the server connection.

Player-focused requests use the free Steam Web API and `STEAM_ID`. They cover profiles, owned games, achievements, wishlists, and friends. The server runs over stdio with `npx -y steam-games-mcp` and is read-only: it does not launch games, post content, trade, or buy anything.

Your Steam profile and game details must be public for requests about your own library and achievements. Configuration uses `STEAM_API_KEY`, `STEAM_ID`, `STEAM_COUNTRY`, and `STEAM_LANGUAGE`; the last two values control the store region and language.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Environment variables: `STEAM_API_KEY`, `STEAM_ID`, `STEAM_COUNTRY`, `STEAM_LANGUAGE` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.
