# stalemap

Flags npm package changes released after an agent's training cutoff. It keeps assistants from writing deprecated API calls in modern JavaScript codebases.

## What it does

Coding models assume APIs match their training cutoff date. When modern repositories pin newer versions, agents generate removed parameters, broken imports, or outdated conventions.

stalemap compares installed dependencies against cutoff dates from models.dev or explicit settings. It exposes MCP tools including `search_changes`, `package_changes`, `project_changes`, and `check_notes`, while writing summary blocks directly into `AGENTS.md` or `CLAUDE.md`.

The utility targets JavaScript and TypeScript projects. For custom model awareness, you must configure the `STALEMAP_MODEL` environment variable upon registration.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Environment variables: `STALEMAP_MODEL` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.

## When to use it
- Stop agents from generating removed methods from newer npm dependencies
