## What it does

Ask which technologies a site uses, who runs it, or how widely a particular technology appears across websites. For a single domain, the server returns technologies with their categories. Batch lookups compare several domains, while company lookups can return details such as industry, city, country, and LinkedIn.

You’ll need a StackScan API token and workspace UUID. The server runs through `npx -y @stackscan/mcp-server`, with credentials passed when you add it to Claude Code. Paid lookups count toward a session cap of 25 by default. A batch that would exceed the remaining cap is rejected as a whole, so check your available credits before sending a large lookup.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Environment variables: `STACKSCAN_API_TOKEN`, `STACKSCAN_TENANT_ID`, `STACKSCAN_SESSION_LOOKUP_CAP` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add --env STACKSCAN_API_TOKEN=<STACKSCAN_API_TOKEN> --env STACKSCAN_TENANT_ID=<STACKSCAN_TENANT_ID> --env STACKSCAN_SESSION_LOOKUP_CAP=<STACKSCAN_SESSION_LOOKUP_CAP> --transport stdio stackscan-mcp-server -- npx -y @stackscan/mcp-server
```
Replace <…> with your own values

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add stackscan-mcp-server --env STACKSCAN_API_TOKEN=<STACKSCAN_API_TOKEN> --env STACKSCAN_TENANT_ID=<STACKSCAN_TENANT_ID> --env STACKSCAN_SESSION_LOOKUP_CAP=<STACKSCAN_SESSION_LOOKUP_CAP> -- npx -y @stackscan/mcp-server
```
Replace <…> with your own values

### Cursor

## When to use it
- identify technologies used by a domain
- find the company behind a website
- compare technologies across several domains
- check how many sites use a technology

## Example prompts
- Check which technologies `example.com` uses.
- Find the company behind `vercel.com` and report its industry and country.
- How many sites use Klaviyo, and where are they located?
