## What it does

Stackcut gives an agent access to an MCP service for subscription research. It can compare plans with actual usage, suggest replacements for a vendor, choose a database and email provider for a stated volume, and outline the steps for leaving a service. A shared plan code can be used for a read-only review.

The package includes a skill, a local scanner at `scripts/detect.mjs`, and detection rules in `detect.json`. The scanner inspects the repository you point it to and sends vendor names, feature names, and counts for analysis. Source files and secret values remain local. Passing `--latest` makes it download public rules from `https://stackcut.io/data/detect.json`.

No API key is required. The server stores redacted request arguments to improve recommendations, so personal information and secrets should stay out of prompts. The MCP endpoint is `https://stackcut.io/mcp`.
