# Spala Public MCP

Spala's public MCP server: it briefs your agent on the platform, runs OAuth, and hands back exact project MCP URLs.

## What it does

This is the front door to Spala for agents. The server publishes 16 tools. Six are public: help, onboarding, a tool map, docs search, template and addon listings. The rest need a bearer token with the `api` scope and act on your account — creating an organization, listing and creating projects, binding MCP to the project you pick.

It does not touch your project backend itself. Access is validated, project calls are delegated server-side, and what comes back is the project MCP URL plus an installer plan. That URL is what your agent uses from then on.

There is an intent boundary worth knowing about. Install or connect means setup only: finish OAuth, create or select a project, verify the connection, stop. Writing application code waits for a separate request. Running it locally takes `pnpm install` then `pnpm dev`, with the server on `http://localhost:4100/mcp`. Copy `.env.example` to `.env` first — `PUBLIC_OAUTH_ENCRYPTION_SECRET` and `PUBLIC_MCP_PLATFORM_SERVICE_SECRET` are required, and the encryption secret must be at least 32 characters.

## Requirements
- Remote server: `https://mcp.spala.ai/mcp`

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http spala-public-mcp https://mcp.spala.ai/mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add spala-public-mcp --url https://mcp.spala.ai/mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "spala-public-mcp": {
            "url": "https://mcp.spala.ai/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "spala-public-mcp": {
            "type": "http",
            "url": "https://mcp.spala.ai/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http spala-public-mcp https://mcp.spala.ai/mcp
```

## When to use it
- wire an agent into the Spala backend without hand-building URLs
- complete OAuth and bind MCP to the right project
- check available templates and addons before starting work
- look up OAuth, limits and security answers in Spala docs
- create an organization and project from inside the client

## Example prompts
- Connect Spala Public MCP and walk me through OAuth
- List the projects in my Spala account
- Bind MCP to my project and return the project MCP URL
