## What it does

SoloMD exposes a notes folder through MCP. An agent can list and read files, search text or regex patterns, inspect backlinks and tags, and retrieve headings or checkbox tasks. It can also query AutoGit history and compare note revisions.

The server starts in read-only mode. Creating notes, appending text and rolling back a file require `--allow-write`. Exporting notes to formats such as DOCX depends on Node.js and a SoloMD source checkout with dependencies installed in `app/`; otherwise, the export tool is not available.

Pass `--workspace` more than once to connect several vaults; the first one is the default. Cargo is needed for the Cargo installation method, and Node.js is required for export.

## When to use it
- search notes for a text fragment or regex
- find notes that link to a given file
- collect tags and open checkbox tasks
- compare a note with an earlier AutoGit revision
- create or append to a Markdown file with write access enabled

## Example prompts
- Search my notes for matches to a regex that identifies API keys.
- Show backlinks to `project-plan.md` and list unfinished tasks.
- Append this text to `meeting.md`.
