## What it does

This server connects AI assistants to the VirtualSMS platform. It provisions carrier-backed mobile lines rather than VoIP addresses. Services accept them during signups because real SIM hardware handles the traffic.

The toolset covers the full onboarding chain. Tools like `create_order` reserve a line for a targeted service, while `wait_for_sms` intercepts incoming verification tokens. You can also trigger `create_rental` to keep a dedicated line from 1 to 30 days, or fetch matching residential and mobile proxies.

Most workflows depend on a funded account and a valid `VIRTUALSMS_API_KEY`. Without a prepaid balance, orders fail outright. However, the `check_number` tool runs without any credentials.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Remote server: `https://mcp.virtualsms.io/mcp`
- Environment variables: `VIRTUALSMS_API_KEY` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.
