# seekstone

Connects an AI client to Obsidian files for searching and editing. The Obsidian app can stay closed while seekstone works with the vault.

## What it does

seekstone accesses an Obsidian vault directly on disk and gives an AI client read and write access. It works without an Obsidian plugin or an open Obsidian app. The server includes 25 tools, with full-text search that supports fuzzy matches and word prefixes.

An optional semantic mode uses a small embedding model on the device and works offline. The `query_notes` tool filters notes by properties, dates, and size. Installation through `npx` requires Node.js 22 or newer. Set `SEEKSTONE_VAULT` to the vault path; the server needs that location to read your notes.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Environment variables: `SEEKSTONE_VAULT` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.
