# Scrapeer

Scrapeer lets an AI agent run visual web-scraping flows, inspect their output, and edit flow blocks through MCP.

## What it does

The server connects an MCP client to Scrapeer. An agent can list saved flows, start cloud executions, retrieve structured results, and inspect execution steps when a run fails. It can also create flows or make targeted changes to their blocks.

Connection requires the `SCRAPEER_API_KEY` credential. Without it, the server cannot access the Scrapeer account. Before creating or changing a flow, the agent should fetch the block catalog, which describes valid block types and field schemas. Flow validation can check a JSON definition without saving it.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Environment variables: `SCRAPEER_API_KEY` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add mcp-server -e SCRAPEER_API_KEY=<SCRAPEER_API_KEY> -- npx -y @scrapeer/mcp-server
```
Replace <…> with your own values

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add scrapeer --env SCRAPEER_API_KEY=<SCRAPEER_API_KEY> -- npx -y @scrapeer/mcp-server
```
Replace <…> with your own values

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "scrapeer": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "@scrapeer/mcp-server"
            ],
            "env": {
                "SCRAPEER_API_KEY": "<SCRAPEER_API_KEY>"
            }
        }
    }
}
```
Replace <…> with your own values

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "scrapeer": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "@scrapeer/mcp-server"
            ],
            "env": {
                "SCRAPEER_API_KEY": "<SCRAPEER_API_KEY>"
            }
        }
    }
}
```
Replace <…> with your own values

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add -e SCRAPEER_API_KEY=<SCRAPEER_API_KEY> scrapeer npx -y @scrapeer/mcp-server
```
Replace <…> with your own values

## When to use it
- run a saved web-scraping flow
- retrieve structured output from a completed run
- inspect execution steps to diagnose a failure
- create a flow or adjust its blocks
- check account credits and cloud-run availability

## Example prompts
- Run a saved Scrapeer flow and return its structured results.
- Inspect the steps from the latest Scrapeer run and identify where it failed.
- Create a Scrapeer flow; check the block catalog and validate the definition before saving.
