## What it does

SAP ABAP MCP connects an AI coding agent with an SAP system through ADT. The agent can read and inspect ABAP, work with tests and operations, and apply scoped source changes while checking the resulting state. Supported hosts include Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, and the other platforms listed for the server.

For Claude Code, add it with `claude mcp add sap-abap-mcp -- npx -y @coaspe/sap-abap-mcp`. Save the SAP connection, register the host, and restart the application before verifying a real system read. The quick-start path requires Node.js 22/24 and access to the company VPN.

A read-only evaluation can keep `readOnly: true` and expose search, description, and read operations only. Write, activation, Unit, ATC, debugger, and profiling actions should stay disabled in that mode; uncertain multi-object changes have no automatic rollback.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add sap-abap-mcp -- npx -y @coaspe/sap-abap-mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add sap-abap-mcp -- npx -y @coaspe/sap-abap-mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "sap-abap-mcp": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "@coaspe/sap-abap-mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "sap-abap-mcp": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "@coaspe/sap-abap-mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add sap-abap-mcp npx -y @coaspe/sap-abap-mcp
```

## When to use it
- read ABAP objects through an ADT connection
- inspect SAP code and related dependencies
- apply scoped source changes from an agent
- check actual SAP validation results
- run ABAP operations from a coding host

## Example prompts
- Read the ABAP source for this SAP object through ADT.
- Inspect this ABAP object and report the available check results.
- Apply the requested scoped change, then verify the SAP state.
