# Rootz Archive

## What it does

The plugin stores local copies of Claude Code conversations, including sub-agent chats, and files Claude edited. The MCP server lets an agent search that archive or prepare session summaries. Conversation copies live in `~/.rootz-archive/vault`; the searchable database is at `~/.rootz-desktop/archives.db`.

Recording requires Node.js 22.13 or newer. After installing the plugin, open a new Claude Code session and run `/rootz-archive:accept` to accept the licence; capture starts only after that. On Windows, an `EBUSY` error when adding the marketplace can be handled by adding a local clone instead. Rootz receives no archive data, but material Claude reads while searching or summarising is sent to Anthropic. Keep that in mind if conversations contain other people’s personal information or secrets.

- locate the conversation where a decision was made
- find the session that fixed an upload issue
- summarise earlier Claude Code sessions
- inspect what the local archive has captured

## Example prompts
- Find the session where we fixed the upload issue.
- Summarise my longest sessions that do not have a summary yet.
