## What it does

RemoteBridge is a Rust CLI and MCP server. It pushes local code with `rsync`, runs commands on a remote host over SSH, pulls logs and diagnostics, and compares environments. Your agent calls all of it through a compact tool surface.

Recurring server facts live in `remotebridge.yaml`: the deploy path, the restart command, which log files matter, which commands are allowed or blocked. That means the agent stops rediscovering the same details on every run. The exposed tools are `sync_to_remote`, `deploy`, `preflight_check`, `fetch_logs`, `diagnose_failure`, `compare_targets`. Output is capped on purpose, so the model reads the useful tail instead of a full shell transcript.

Destructive commands can be confirmed, blocked, or limited to allowlisted prefixes. Without a configured `remotebridge.yaml` the tools have nothing to work from — no host, no path, no restart command. The server ships as the `remote-bridge-cli` package and runs through `npx`.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add remote-bridge -- npx -y remote-bridge-cli
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add remote-bridge -- npx -y remote-bridge-cli
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "remote-bridge": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "remote-bridge-cli"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "remote-bridge": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "remote-bridge-cli"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add remote-bridge npx -y remote-bridge-cli
```

## When to use it
- push local edits to a remote server
- restart a service without hunting for the command
- collect logs and service state in one response
- diff staging against production
- keep dangerous commands behind an allowlist

## Example prompts
- Sync my code to the server and deploy the latest build
- Pull the logs and tell me why the service died
- Compare staging and production runtimes
