# reevesagents

Attach the MCP and one CLI agent can spawn others in tmux panes, read what they print, adjust the work and stop them. Handy when a job splits across tools.

## What it does

ReevesAgents keeps CLI coding agents running in tmux windows on your machine. The opt-in MCP layer lets one trusted CLI start another provider's CLI, look at its pane, nudge it and shut it down. Provider logins never leave their own CLI, so Claude, Codex, Gemini CLI and the rest behave as they do when you open them by hand.

Its own state is a handful of JSON files in `~/.reeves`. Nothing runs in the background unless you or an attached CLI is using it. You get a terminal TUI, a local web view of runs and approvals, and plain commands for scripts. Four helper tools sit alongside: web search, notebook jobs on CPU, GPU or TPU, Hugging Face model and dataset transfers, and local models through Ollama.

Before anything starts you need Node.js `22.12+`, tmux `3.0+` and one supported provider CLI already signed in; macOS, Linux and WSL are covered. If you wire the MCP into Claude or Codex, restart that CLI afterwards. Skip the restart and the new tools stay invisible to the agent.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add reevesagents -- npx -y reevesagents
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add reevesagents -- npx -y reevesagents
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "reevesagents": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "reevesagents"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "reevesagents": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "reevesagents"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add reevesagents npx -y reevesagents
```

## When to use it
- start several CLI agents in one command and watch them from a terminal
- let one agent read and redirect the work of the others
- see which provider CLIs and helper tools are installed and signed in
- review runs, panes and approvals in a local web view
- pull models and datasets from Hugging Face inside an agent session

## Example prompts
- Spawn a run with `claude-code:lead` and `codex:tests` named `release check`, and have them review the release path and test coverage.
- Attach the MCP to `codex`, list the hosts and start a new run from there.
- Use `list_tools` to see which of the four helper tools are installed and which need a login.
