## What it does

The server exposes eight tools for Quicken data, including account listings, transaction searches, category spending summaries, and portfolio holdings. Its `raw_query` tool runs `SELECT` queries with a 500-row cap. Quicken stores the data in a SQLite database inside a `.quicken` bundle.

Quicken For Mac must be running. When the app is closed, its database is encrypted and cannot be read. The server does not change financial records. If `~/Documents` contains multiple `.quicken` bundles, set `QUICKEN_DB_PATH` to select the right database; automatic detection only works when there is exactly one bundle.

The MCP server works with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf (Devin Desktop), Cline, and Zed. To add it in Claude Code, run the command below. It registers the server as `quicken-mac-mcp`.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Environment variables: `QUICKEN_DB_PATH` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.
