# PreClick — An MCP-native URL preflight scanning service for autonomous agents.

PreClick screens URLs for threats and checks whether they fit the agent’s intended task before navigation. It suits workflows that handle links automatically.

## What it does

PreClick exposes URL checks through MCP before an agent opens a page. It looks for phishing, malware, and other security risks, then compares the link with the task context. The result gives an agent a pre-navigation decision instead of sending it straight to the target.

The hosted service is available at `https://preclick.ai/mcp` and can be connected to Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf (Devin Desktop), Cline, Zed, or Gemini CLI. A trial tier allows up to 100 requests per day without an API key. Usage above that quota requires `X-API-Key`.

The MCP interface provides `url_scanner_scan` and `url_scanner_scan_with_intent`. A scan can run directly or as an asynchronous task with the `task` parameter. Use it only on websites or systems you are authorized to assess; the service does not grant permission to inspect someone else’s infrastructure.
