# Porkbun (official)

## What it does

The MCP server exposes Porkbun API tools to an agent. It can check a domain’s availability and price, list account domains, and retrieve DNS records or current nameservers. It can also scan a domain’s live DNS before a transfer; zone data does not move with the transfer.

Porkbun hosts an HTTP endpoint, and Claude Code can connect to it directly. There is also a local `npx` setup that uses an API key and secret key. The hosted connection requires signing in to Porkbun and approving access. Some tools can spend account funds: `buy_closeout` purchases a domain closeout, so review the agent’s request before allowing it.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Remote server: `https://mcp.porkbun.com/mcp`
- Environment variables: `PORKBUN_API_KEY`, `PORKBUN_SECRET_API_KEY` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.
