## What it does

The server keeps agent memory on your local drive under `~/.plur/`. Records are saved as transparent YAML entries called engrams. You can inspect every piece of recalled knowledge, adjust entries in any text editor, or wipe them clean without touching model weights.

Node.js 20 or newer is strictly required. Without it, the binary will fail during startup. Retrieval uses the local `BGE-small` model by default. If your machine blocks model downloads, search gracefully falls back to standard BM25 keyword matching.

Scoping prevents team conventions from colliding with private notes. Generating a `.plur.yaml` config through `--scope` confines specific project details to their directory while retaining global developer preferences.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add plur -- npx -y @plur-ai/mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add plur -- npx -y @plur-ai/mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "plur": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "@plur-ai/mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "plur": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "@plur-ai/mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add plur npx -y @plur-ai/mcp
```

## When to use it
- retain coding style corrections across separate coding sessions
- share architectural context between Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex
- keep developer preferences on local disk in plain YAML
- isolate client project memories using dedicated scopes

## Example prompts
- Save our database schema decisions to plur memory
- Check plur memory for the testing conventions we established earlier
- Retrieve all saved engrams tagged under project:my-app
