## What it does

Pi Durabletask MCP lets Claude Code, Codex and other MCP clients delegate work to Pi agents. The main agent can send one prompt to several models with `spawn_batch`, wait for progress through `wait`, and compare separate reports. `run` handles a blocking question, while `steer`, `answer`, `follow_up` and `abort` control an active or finished run.

Tasks can include diffs or notes as attachments. Long responses can be written with `saveTo` or `saveDir`; results also expose token use, cost and the model that answered. Turn, time and tool-call budgets are built in, while provider fallback and restart-safe durable tasks are opt-in. The server requires macOS or Linux, Node.js 22.19+, Pi and credentials for your model providers. Without those prerequisites, it cannot start or make model calls.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)

## Install

```
### Codex
**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add pi-durabletask-mcp -- npx -y pi-durabletask-mcp
```
### Cursor
**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "pi-durabletask-mcp": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "pi-durabletask-mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
### GitHub Copilot
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add pi-durabletask-mcp npx -y pi-durabletask-mcp
```

## When to use it
- review one diff with several models in parallel
- delegate code investigations to Pi agents
- compare independent review reports
- write a long result to a file
- continue a run after a provider error

## Example prompts
- Use Pi to review this diff with Gemini, Grok and GPT in parallel. Do not edit files.
- Inspect the authentication module for missing permission checks and return file-and-line findings.
- Run this investigation through Pi, save the full report to a file, and include token usage.
