## What it does

Partuno connects an AI coding client to DigiKey and Mouser catalog workflows. It searches parts, normalizes manufacturer numbers and attributes, then compares offers for a requested quantity, including price breaks, minimum order quantities, order multiples, availability, and lead time. BOM analysis covers stock, lifecycle, compliance, cost, and substitute candidates.

Recommendations keep `meets`, `does_not_meet`, and `unknown` evidence states, so an ambiguous attribute is not silently accepted as a requirement. The local setup runs through `uvx` and uses operator-owned DigiKey and Mouser credentials. There is no shared public endpoint, and ordering is not autonomous.

## Requirements
- Needs: Python and uv (commands run via uvx)
- Environment variables: `DIGIKEY_ACCESS_TOKEN`, `DIGIKEY_CLIENT_ID`, `DIGIKEY_CLIENT_SECRET`, `MOUSER_SEARCH_API_KEY`, `MOUSER_ACCOUNT_API_KEY` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add partuno -e DIGIKEY_ACCESS_TOKEN=<DIGIKEY_ACCESS_TOKEN> -e DIGIKEY_CLIENT_ID=<DIGIKEY_CLIENT_ID> -e DIGIKEY_CLIENT_SECRET=<DIGIKEY_CLIENT_SECRET> -e MOUSER_SEARCH_API_KEY=<MOUSER_SEARCH_API_KEY> -e MOUSER_ACCOUNT_API_KEY=<MOUSER_ACCOUNT_API_KEY> -- uvx partuno
```
Replace <…> with your own values. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from partuno <command>

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add partuno-digikey-mouser-mcp-server --env DIGIKEY_ACCESS_TOKEN=<DIGIKEY_ACCESS_TOKEN> --env DIGIKEY_CLIENT_ID=<DIGIKEY_CLIENT_ID> --env DIGIKEY_CLIENT_SECRET=<DIGIKEY_CLIENT_SECRET> --env MOUSER_SEARCH_API_KEY=<MOUSER_SEARCH_API_KEY> --env MOUSER_ACCOUNT_API_KEY=<MOUSER_ACCOUNT_API_KEY> -- uvx partuno
```
Replace <…> with your own values. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from partuno <command>

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "partuno-digikey-mouser-mcp-server": {
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "partuno"
            ],
            "env": {
                "DIGIKEY_ACCESS_TOKEN": "<DIGIKEY_ACCESS_TOKEN>",
                "DIGIKEY_CLIENT_ID": "<DIGIKEY_CLIENT_ID>",
                "DIGIKEY_CLIENT_SECRET": "<DIGIKEY_CLIENT_SECRET>",
                "MOUSER_SEARCH_API_KEY": "<MOUSER_SEARCH_API_KEY>",
                "MOUSER_ACCOUNT_API_KEY": "<MOUSER_ACCOUNT_API_KEY>"
            }
        }
    }
}
```
Replace <…> with your own values. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from partuno <command>

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "partuno-digikey-mouser-mcp-server": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "partuno"
            ],
            "env": {
                "DIGIKEY_ACCESS_TOKEN": "<DIGIKEY_ACCESS_TOKEN>",
                "DIGIKEY_CLIENT_ID": "<DIGIKEY_CLIENT_ID>",
                "DIGIKEY_CLIENT_SECRET": "<DIGIKEY_CLIENT_SECRET>",
                "MOUSER_SEARCH_API_KEY": "<MOUSER_SEARCH_API_KEY>",
                "MOUSER_ACCOUNT_API_KEY": "<MOUSER_ACCOUNT_API_KEY>"
            }
        }
    }
}
```
Replace <…> with your own values. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from partuno <command>

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add -e DIGIKEY_ACCESS_TOKEN=<DIGIKEY_ACCESS_TOKEN> -e DIGIKEY_CLIENT_ID=<DIGIKEY_CLIENT_ID> -e DIGIKEY_CLIENT_SECRET=<DIGIKEY_CLIENT_SECRET> -e MOUSER_SEARCH_API_KEY=<MOUSER_SEARCH_API_KEY> -e MOUSER_ACCOUNT_API_KEY=<MOUSER_ACCOUNT_API_KEY> partuno-digikey-mouser-mcp-server uvx partuno
```
Replace <…> with your own values. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from partuno <command>

## When to use it
- find parts from engineering requirements
- compare DigiKey and Mouser offers
- check BOM stock and lifecycle risk
- estimate component costs from a BOM
- identify substitute parts with evidence

## Example prompts
- Search DigiKey and Mouser for parts matching this BOM, then compare offers for the requested quantity.
- Review this BOM for stock, lifecycle, compliance, and substitute candidates.
- Compare the exact component across DigiKey and Mouser, showing price, minimum order quantity, and availability.
