## What it does

PakBus connects an AI coding assistant to public transport information across Pakistani cities. It can locate stops by name, map out a journey with directions and fare details, retrieve upcoming departures, and check service changes affecting a city or route. A separate lookup lists the cities covered by its routes.

The remote MCP endpoint is `https://pakbus.app/mcp` and uses Streamable HTTP. No sign-in is needed, and its tools are read-only. Departure times come from published timetables rather than live vehicle tracking, so the server cannot tell you where a bus is at this moment.

PakBus supports Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf (Devin Desktop), Cline, Zed and Gemini CLI. For Claude Code, add it with `claude mcp add --transport http pakbus https://pakbus.app/mcp`. Your assistant sends the server the locations, search terms and departure time included in your request.

## Requirements
- Remote server: `https://pakbus.app/mcp`

## Install

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http pakbus https://pakbus.app/mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add pakbus --url https://pakbus.app/mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "pakbus": {
            "url": "https://pakbus.app/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "pakbus": {
            "type": "http",
            "url": "https://pakbus.app/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http pakbus https://pakbus.app/mcp
```

## When to use it
- Plan a trip with directions, a fare and a map
- Find a bus stop or metro station by name
- Check upcoming departures from a selected stop
- Look up a route's fare and ordered stops
- List the cities covered by PakBus

## Example prompts
- Plan a bus trip from Munawar Colony to Pak Secretariat for tomorrow at 8 am.
- Find the next bus departing from Gondal in Attock.
