## What it does

Pagecast is an MCP server that drives Chromium, replays your actions on a page and turns the capture into a GIF or MP4. The cursor gets a highlight, clicks leave a ripple, and export can add a magnified inset near each interaction or a smooth camera pan between targets.

The work is split across tools. `record_page` opens a URL and starts capturing, `interact_page` handles clicks, typing, scrolling and navigation, `stop_recording` writes a `.webm` plus a `-timeline.json`. Then `smart_export`, `cinematic_export`, `convert_to_gif` or `convert_to_mp4` produce the final file, and `record_and_export` chains the whole thing in one call. You don't have to work out dimensions yourself — name the destination and the server picks a platform preset.

Node.js 20 or newer and ffmpeg in `PATH` are required; without ffmpeg the conversion step won't run. The Playwright browser is installed separately with `npx playwright install chromium`. The window is visible by default, and `--headless` sends it to the background.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Works with: Playwright

    }
}
```
### Gemini CLI
**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add pagecast npx -y @mcpware/pagecast
```
## When to use it
- record an app demo for a README
- produce a vertical clip for Reels or TikTok
- rebuild the demo after UI changes
- attach a recording of the steps to a bug report
- turn a captured `.webm` into MP4
## Example prompts
- Record a demo of `localhost:3000` for my GitHub README
- Make a TikTok demo of my dashboard
