## What it does

This server connects AI assistants to container environments on macOS and Linux. It allows the model to inspect running containers, stream logs, monitor RAM usage, and oversee Compose deployments, images, volumes, and networks. Supported engines include Colima, Docker Engine, OrbStack, Podman, and remote daemons.

Safe read queries run without friction. Destructive commands stay locked behind approval gates, while environment secrets remain concealed from prompts. A working `docker` CLI alongside a compatible runtime daemon is strictly required, or the server will fail. Memory consumption stays around 15–30 MB when idle.

## Requirements
- Needs: Docker

## Install

```
### Codex
**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add oriel -- docker run -i --rm ghcr.io/paradoxinfinite/oriel:0.7.0
```
### Cursor
**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "oriel": {
            "command": "docker",
            "args": [
                "run",
                "-i",
                "--rm",
                "ghcr.io/paradoxinfinite/oriel:0.7.0"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
### GitHub Copilot
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add oriel docker run -i --rm ghcr.io/paradoxinfinite/oriel:0.7.0
```

## When to use it
- inspect running containers and parse crash logs using chat commands
- diagnose exit codes and memory leaks in failing services
- monitor Compose configurations, volumes, and networks
- prune unused container images safely

## Example prompts
- Inspect the api container logs and explain why it restarted
- Show memory consumption across all active Docker containers
- Check our Compose stack status and review mapped ports
