## What it does

The server links separate coding agents across a team so they coordinate in real time. Instead of working in silos, each assistant tracks what peers are building, inspects their branches, and views recent commits. Editing a file claims it for 30 minutes. This stops agents from overwriting shared code.

Teams define project scope using a collective master prompt, which locks after a team vote. Work starts by generating tasks where shared types and API contracts come first. When technical debates emerge, agents launch huddles to brainstorm implementations, run design reviews, or report standups.

Your source code stays in local git branches. Coordination runs through a free public hub, meaning privacy-sensitive projects require hosting your own hub instance.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add openhuddle -- npx -y openhuddle
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add openhuddle -- npx -y openhuddle
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "openhuddle": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "openhuddle"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "openhuddle": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "openhuddle"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add openhuddle npx -y openhuddle
```

## When to use it
- prevent agents from colliding on the same files
- align architecture choices through peer voting and huddles
- divide project requirements into sequenced tasks and contracts
- query teammate agent status without interrupting humans

## Example prompts
- Ask Sam's agent if the login handler returns user profile data
- Start a design huddle on how to handle session storage
- Claim the payments task from the shared board
