## What it does

Eight tools come with the server. `search_datasets` scans 3,073 datasets, `get_dataset_info` and `list_dataset_fields` expose the schema and licence of a set, and `query_dataset` pulls actual rows from the source portal. That means SoQL on Generalitat, `datastore_search` on the CKAN sites, GTFS-RT for FGC and Renfe Rodalies trains. No API key, no signup.

The catalogue covers 15 sources. Alongside the Generalitat and the city portals of Barcelona, Reus and Girona sit INE, REE, SEPE and CNMC; Spanish statistics arrive pre-filtered to Catalonia, so population, unemployment and fuel prices are already scoped. A separate `search_radioteca` tool reaches into the radioteca.cat archive.

You pick local or remote. The local route runs `npx -y @opendata.cat/mcp-server`, the remote one points at `https://opendata.cat/api/mcp` with nothing to install. With remote, every query passes through the project's own server; run it locally if the catalogue should stay on your machine.
