## What it does

Opedd connects Claude Code to a catalog of content available for licensing. Its tools can search publications, inspect publisher details, retrieve answer-focused passages with citations, buy a licence, and validate a licence key. The server also exposes a publisher directory, a public licence registry, and platform detection for publication URLs.

You can use the hosted MCP endpoint at `https://mcp.opedd.com/mcp` or run the package locally with `npx -y opedd-mcp`. Discovery tools work without authentication. Passage search needs a buyer key with the `search` scope, while purchasing and content retrieval use Opedd credentials.

Paid actions can require environment variables such as `OPEDD_BUYER_TOKEN` and `OPEDD_BUYER_JWT`, depending on the tool. Without a buyer key, you can discover licensable material, but paid passage retrieval will not run.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Remote server: `https://mcp.opedd.com/mcp`
- Environment variables: `OPEDD_BUYER_EMAIL`, `OPEDD_PAYMENT_METHOD_ID`, `OPEDD_BUYER_TOKEN`, `OPEDD_ACCESS_KEY`, `OPEDD_BUYER_JWT`, `OPEDD_PUB_BEARER` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.
