## What it does

OhMyWind connects your assistant to marine weather data without requiring tokens. It gathers forecasts through Open-Meteo using GFS and ECMWF models. Near French shores, it switches to high-resolution AROME data and SHOM tidal atlases.

The server helps inspect tidal streams and compute multi-leg routes. It maps your vessel against eight polar archetypes. It can also evaluate hourly departure windows across a 14-day range, scoring each slot from 1 to 5 in complexity.

Keep in mind that OhMyWind offers advisory guidance, not certified navigational charting. Clients lacking native HTTP support require an `mcp-remote` proxy to forward traffic.

## Requirements
- Remote server: `https://mcp.ohmywind.fr/mcp`

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http sailing-planner https://mcp.ohmywind.fr/mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add ohmywind --url https://mcp.ohmywind.fr/mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "ohmywind": {
            "url": "https://mcp.ohmywind.fr/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "ohmywind": {
            "type": "http",
            "url": "https://mcp.ohmywind.fr/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http ohmywind https://mcp.ohmywind.fr/mcp
```

## When to use it
- calculate passage durations across route legs
- identify the calmest departure window over 14 days
- score route complexity on a 1 to 5 scale
- check tidal stream timings and slack water in coastal channels

## Example prompts
- Plan a passage from Marseille to Porquerolles tomorrow on a Sun Odyssey 36 and estimate the duration.
- Check the marine wind and sea state near Cap Sicié for Saturday afternoon.
- Find the best weather window this week to sail from Brest to Saint-Malo.
