# Offers MCP

A hosted server that takes a product name or barcode and answers with live prices, shipping-inclusive totals and merchant trust. Useful when an agent has to compare offers instead of trusting search snippets.

## What it does

The endpoint lives at `https://offers-engine.dexter-works.com/mcp`. You pass a free-text query such as `Sony WH-1000XM6 black`, or a GTIN/UPC/EAN code, and optionally a five-digit US zip for delivery windows. Back comes one structured payload: the matched product with a resolution confidence, the offer list, the best trusted deal and the fastest trusted one, each with a source and a `checked_at` stamp. A single call queries several merchants at once and normalises their answers.

There is one tool, `search_offers`. Trust scores are not sold to merchants, and listings marked untrusted get dropped. When the product match is shaky the response says so, so the agent can hedge instead of inventing a match.

A cold lookup takes roughly 5–15 seconds as upstreams are queried; a repeat lands in milliseconds from a short-lived cache. That gap is the first thing to fix on your side: raise the tool timeout in the client, or the initial search will time out. Each visitor gets about 10 fresh lookups per day, cached ones do not count, and capacity resets daily in UTC. No API key, no signup.

## When to use it
- check whether a quoted price is actually a good deal
- work out the real cost including shipping for a zip code
- look up a product by barcode instead of typing its name
- drop low-trust merchants from the shortlist
- compare delivery windows across several sellers

## Example prompts
- Use Offers MCP to see if $398 for the Sony WH-1000XM6 is a fair price, my zip is 83702
- Resolve this barcode through Offers MCP and show the best trusted offer with delivery
- Ask Offers MCP for delivery windows on this model at 83702 and tell me which seller is fastest
