## What it does

The server gives an agent tools to find OeBB stations by name, retrieve departures or arrivals, search between two stations, and fetch current disruption notices. Station lookups can use a name or an ID. Route searches can filter for direct trains and plan around a departure or arrival time.

To connect it to Claude Code, run `claude mcp add oebb-mcp-server -- uvx oebb-mcp-server`. Route search accepts time in ISO 8601 format. The direct-only filter must be enabled when you want to exclude routes with transfers; otherwise, the search is not limited to direct trains.

## Requirements
- Needs: Python and uv (commands run via uvx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add oebb-mcp-server -- uvx oebb-mcp-server
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from oebb-mcp-server <command>

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add oebb-austrian-railways -- uvx oebb-mcp-server
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from oebb-mcp-server <command>

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "oebb-austrian-railways": {
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "oebb-mcp-server"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from oebb-mcp-server <command>

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "oebb-austrian-railways": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "oebb-mcp-server"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from oebb-mcp-server <command>

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add oebb-austrian-railways uvx oebb-mcp-server
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from oebb-mcp-server <command>
