## What it does

Obsidian Everywhere turns a local vault into searchable agent context. It parses Markdown links, embeds, frontmatter, tags, headings, and block references, then combines SQLite full-text search with an in-memory graph. `get_context_bundle` returns a focused package around a topic, with graph traversal and semantic retrieval available for related notes.

The server can run beside the vault over local stdio or expose the same tools through authenticated HTTP for a remote agent. Write operations support dry runs, rollback snapshots, and recovery when a removable drive, NAS share, or container mount disappears. Git features are opt-in: status, bounded diffs, history, selected-file commits, and HTTPS pushes use preview and one-use approval steps.

Semantic retrieval is off by default. To enable it, install `@huggingface/transformers@^4.2.0` and set `OBSIDIAN_EVERYWHERE_ENABLE_SEMANTIC=true`; `multilingual-e5-small` is downloaded locally and then runs offline. The server keeps the vault on the machine you control, so remote access is transport rather than vault synchronization.

    }
}
```
### Gemini CLI
**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add obsidian-everywhere npx -y obsidian-everywhere
```
## When to use it
- search a vault by meaning and exact text
- build focused context from linked Obsidian notes
- apply a guarded edit to a local vault
- review repository changes before committing
- recover after a mounted vault disappears
## Example prompts
- Search my vault for notes about the migration and return the connected context.
- Find the shortest path between `Project Alpha` and `API decisions`.
- Prepare a guarded edit for this note, show the dry run first, and wait for approval.
