# NotebookLM MCP

An MCP server that puts Google NotebookLM in your agent's hands: grounded Q&A with citations, audio and video generation, and more.

## What it does

The server connects an MCP client to NotebookLM over two paths. The main one is the internal `batchexecute` RPC call; a Playwright browser sits behind it as a fallback for when the RPC breaks. Answers come back with source names and the excerpts they rest on, so a claim can be checked against the text.

Studio generation is covered too: audio overview, video, infographic, report, presentation and data table, as well as flashcards, quizzes and mind maps. For long runs there is account rotation with automatic re-authentication, which matters when daily quotas run out mid-batch.

This is an unofficial project with no ties to Google. It drives undocumented endpoints, and those can shift at any time; fixes ship when they do. The author recommends a separate Google account for automation and notes that NotebookLM's own quotas apply at volume. Node 22 or newer is required. Remote HTTP access and Docker need `NOTEBOOKLM_API_KEY`.

## Requirements

```
## When to use it
- ask questions across a pile of documents and get cited answers
- turn a notebook's sources into an audio overview or video
- run hundreds of questions over several notebooks overnight
- dump answers to disk as JSON for later search
- drop NotebookLM into an n8n or Zapier workflow
## Example prompts
- Add these PDFs to a notebook and tell me which conclusions contradict each other
- Generate an audio overview for the latest notebook and download it
- Run every question in `questions.txt` against all notebooks and save the output to `answers/`
