# News Sentiment Trends MCP

Gives your agent sentiment history and interest growth for a topic across dozens of sources. Useful when you need real momentum numbers instead of a guess.

## What it does

The server speaks HTTP and exposes three tools. `get_time_series` returns history for one keyword on one source, `get_growth` reports percent change across a window from 7 days to 5 years, and `get_top_trends` shows what is ranking on a platform right now without any keyword. Scores are normalized to 0–100 where the pipeline allows it.

The hosted endpoint is `https://api.trendsmcp.ai/mcp`, and the key travels in an `Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY` header. The same key works for REST calls to `POST https://api.trendsmcp.ai/api`. A stdio adapter also ships in the repo: run `pip install -e .` then `python -m trends_mcp_server`. Paid calls there need `TRENDSMCP_API_KEY` and draw from the same quota.

A free key covers 100 requests per month and comes from `https://www.trendsmcp.ai/account`. The Claude.ai connector at `https://www.trendsmcp.ai/mcp` signs in with OAuth, so putting a Bearer key in that config breaks the authorization step.
