## What it does

navig is an MCP server and infrastructure CLI for remote hosts, databases, containers, files, tunnels, and workflows. It lets an agent access local infrastructure tools. The CLI can manage multiple hosts and supports previewing an operation with `--dry-run` before running it.

The server launch command uses `uvx`, and the CLI requires Python 3.10 or later. Its status bars and icons use Nerd Font glyphs, so install that font separately. On macOS and Linux, select the font in your terminal settings after running the install script; on Windows, the script applies the change automatically. Without Nerd Font, parts of the interface may not render as intended.

## Requirements
- Needs: Python and uv (commands run via uvx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add navig -- uvx navig
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from navig <command>

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add navig -- uvx navig
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from navig <command>

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "navig": {
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "navig"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from navig <command>

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "navig": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "navig"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from navig <command>

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add navig uvx navig
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from navig <command>

## When to use it
- manage several remote hosts from one CLI
- preview infrastructure commands before running them
- work with databases and containers through one interface
- handle remote files and tunnels from the same tool

## Example prompts
- Check a remote host and show which actions I can take.
- Prepare this infrastructure change and preview it with `--dry-run`.
- List the connected hosts and inspect the workspace.
