Checks domain availability, retrieves WHOIS details, and inspects TLD pricing without API keys. Useful when choosing an address for your project inside an agent chat.

## What it does

The server interfaces with open name.ai endpoints, turning domain lookups into tool calls for coding assistants. It handles domain availability checks, WHOIS lookups, pricing queries, and top-level registry requirements. No authentication token is needed.

Clients connect over streamable HTTP at `https://mcp.name.ai/mcp`. You can also host the service locally using Docker or `uvicorn`. When binding a custom domain to a self-hosted instance, add the host to `MCP_ALLOWED_HOSTS` to prevent DNS rebinding guards from throwing HTTP 421 responses.

Every exposed endpoint operates in read-only mode. Because of that, purchasing or reserving a chosen domain through the server is impossible.

## When to use it
- check domain name availability for a new project
- retrieve WHOIS registration details for an address
- look up registration pricing for a specific TLD zone
- inspect technical requirements and registry constraints

## Example prompts
- Check whether myproject.ai is available to register
- Display WHOIS registration details and expiration for example.com
- What does domain registration cost in the .io TLD, and what are the rules?
