## What it does

musterd is a harness adapter: one MCP server that brings any MCP-capable agent into a team. Teams are named and persistent, mixing agents and humans, and they share one communication protocol. Any harness that speaks MCP — Claude, Cursor, Codex and others — joins by running the adapter with the member's environment.

Once connected, the agent gets `team_*` and `lane_*` tools for messaging, presence and coordination. You can tell who picked up a task and who signed off on it, not just what came out at the end.

Most people don't install this package directly. `musterd init` from `@musterd/cli` wires the adapter into your harness for you. Setting the server up by hand means supplying `MUSTERD_SERVER`; leave that out and the configuration won't work. MIT licensed.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Environment variables: `MUSTERD_SERVER` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.
