# Moira

Moira runs multi-step agent workflows over MCP and saves run state, so another agent session can pick up where the previous one stopped.

## What it does

An agent receives instructions and completion criteria, performs the work, then submits a response for schema validation. That check verifies the response shape, not whether the work was actually done. Moira keeps execution state across sessions. Its web interface supports workflow editing and run inspection.

Self-hosting requires Docker with the Compose plugin. Copy `.env.example` to `.env`, then run `docker compose up -d`; the web interface and MCP endpoint are available on `localhost:8080`. Connect an agent to your instance’s `/mcp` endpoint and complete authorization. New self-host accounts require administrator approval.

On first startup, the image creates missing secrets and displays the generated administrator password once. Keep `data/.secrets.env` with the database. Schema validation alone cannot establish that an agent completed its task, so review the actual result separately.

## Requirements
- Needs: Docker

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Install**
- The MCP registry has no launch command for it: see the repository README

## When to use it
- split agent work into steps with instructions and completion criteria
- resume a workflow run in another agent session
- validate an agent response against a schema
- edit workflows and inspect their runs in the web interface

## Example prompts
- Find a workflow for this task and continue its run.
- Show the available workflows and select one for preparing a report.
- Check whether my response matches this step’s completion schema.
