A Microsoft MCP server that hands your agent tools for Microsoft Fabric. Useful when your data and reports live in Fabric.

## What it does

The server runs locally through `npx` and the `@microsoft/fabric-mcp` package. Your agent gets a set of tools for reaching Microsoft Fabric: queries, data access, service documentation. Everything speaks the standard MCP protocol, so the same server plugs into different clients.

Setup is one terminal command. In Claude that is `claude mcp add microsoft-fabric -- npx -y @microsoft/fabric-mcp`. Cursor and GitHub Copilot take a config entry that starts the same command as a stdio process. Claude and Gemini CLI have their own add syntax.

You need access to Microsoft Fabric — without it the tools do nothing. The package is pulled from npm on every launch, so make sure `npx` is on your PATH and the registry is reachable. MIT licensed, source in `microsoft/mcp`.

## When to use it
- query Microsoft Fabric data without leaving the agent
- check a table schema against the Fabric docs
- pull a report together without opening a browser
- see which Fabric tools the agent can call
- wire one server into several IDEs

## Example prompts
- list the tables in my Microsoft Fabric workspace
- which Fabric tools are available over MCP
- run a query against Fabric and show the first rows
