## What it does

mcp-tesla gives an agent tools for Tesla vehicle controls such as locking, climate, charging, and Sentry mode. Tesla Fleet API access also covers Powerwall and Solar functions, navigation, and charging-session data. TeslaMate API adds drive history and statistics. For analytics, the server can generate interactive widgets with charts, tables, and metrics.

The package includes `drive-efficiency-coach`, a skill that reviews TeslaMate drives, flags energy-use outliers, and produces a report. The hosted server supports OAuth 2.0 sign-in with Tesla; Tesla credentials are not sent to the server. Add the hosted MCP endpoint to Claude Code with the command below. Drive analytics rely on TeslaMate API access.

## Requirements
- Remote server: `https://mcp.myteslamate.com/mcp`

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http mcp-tesla https://mcp.myteslamate.com/mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add mcp-tesla --url https://mcp.myteslamate.com/mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "mcp-tesla": {
            "url": "https://mcp.myteslamate.com/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "mcp-tesla": {
            "type": "http",
            "url": "https://mcp.myteslamate.com/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http mcp-tesla https://mcp.myteslamate.com/mcp
```

## When to use it
- control vehicle charging and battery limits through an agent
- check Powerwall and solar status
- spot unusual energy use across drives
- build charts and tables from charging data

## Example prompts
- Check whether my car is locked and Sentry mode is on.
- Compare energy use across my drives over the last 30 days and create a report.
- Show charging costs by location as a chart.
