## What it does

Math MCP Learning adds 17 tools for expression evaluation, statistics, compound interest, unit conversion, and matrix operations. It can draw function plots, histograms, line charts, scatter plots, box plots, and financial charts. Calculations can be saved and retrieved through a persistent workspace.

The server also exposes resources for calculation history, active variables, constants, tool metadata, and health checks. Its prompts include `math_tutor` and `formula_explainer`. You can connect to `https://math-mcp.fastmcp.app/mcp` or run the server locally with `uvx`; the local option therefore depends on having that command ready. `calc_expression` accepts a restricted set of functions and characters, while file access stays inside the designated workspace directory.

## Requirements
- Needs: Python and uv (commands run via uvx)
- Remote server: `https://math-mcp.fastmcp.app/mcp`

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http math-mcp-learning-server https://math-mcp.fastmcp.app/mcp
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add math-mcp-learning -- uvx math-mcp-learning-server
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from math-mcp-learning-server <command>

### Codex

1. **Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add math-mcp-learning --url https://math-mcp.fastmcp.app/mcp
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add math-mcp-learning -- uvx math-mcp-learning-server
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from math-mcp-learning-server <command>

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:

            "args": [
                "math-mcp-learning-server"
            ]
        }
    }
}

uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from math-mcp-learning-server <command>

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:

uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from math-mcp-learning-server <command>

### Gemini CLI

1. **Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http math-mcp-learning https://math-mcp.fastmcp.app/mcp
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add math-mcp-learning uvx math-mcp-learning-server
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from math-mcp-learning-server <command>

## When to use it
- evaluate an expression and save the result
- summarize a dataset with statistical measures
- multiply or invert matrices
- plot a function or statistical distribution
- convert length, weight, or temperature units

## Example prompts
- Calculate the mean, median, and standard deviation for the numbers in my message.
- Plot `sin(x)` and explain the key points on the chart.
- Save this calculation to the workspace, then load it in my next request.
