## What it does

Everything macuse does happens on your Mac. No cloud round-trip, no content telemetry. Through MCP tools the agent works with Calendar, Mail, Notes, Reminders, Messages, Stickies, Contacts, Maps and Shortcuts — booking events, searching mail, creating tasks with due dates. Computer Use covers the rest: clicking elements, typing, walking menus in apps that have no dedicated integration. It runs in the background, so your cursor and active window stay where they are.

Three install paths, one engine. Claude and Codex get a plugin that ships the server plus three skills: `macuse-setup` for install, client connection, macOS permissions and troubleshooting; `macuse-apps` for parameter shapes and call ordering across the built-in apps; `macuse-computer-use` for the inspect/act/verify loop and error recovery. Claude Desktop takes the `.mcpb` bundle. Cursor, Zed, VS Code, Windsurf and similar clients point at the binary themselves — `/Applications/Macuse.app/Contents/MacOS/macuse` with the `mcp` argument. Underneath, all of them call `macuse mcp`, the CLI inside the app, where protocol handling, OAuth, permissions and reconnection live.

Before any of that, download Macuse from macuse.app/download, drag `Macuse.app` into `/Applications` and launch it once. Permissions are granted per app and per client, and the first tool call asks you to approve OAuth in the Macuse window. If the app sits outside `/Applications`, set `MACUSE_BINARY` to its path.
