## What it does

Lucid is a cloud MCP server that lets an AI client work with Lucid documents through natural-language requests. It can search document content, summarize details and action items, build diagrams and org charts, modify or remove shapes, create UML sequence diagrams from PlantUML, and produce PNG exports. It can also create permissioned sharing links and share documents with collaborators by email.

The connection uses Streamable HTTP at `https://mcp.lucid.app/mcp`, with OAuth 2.0 and Dynamic Client Registration for authentication. A client without HTTP support can route requests through `npx` and `mcp-remote`, which requires Node.js. Access follows the Lucid documents available to your account, while Team and Enterprise administrators can control MCP access for users.

Claude Code needs one MCP registration command, followed by the OAuth sign-in flow. FedRAMP accounts cannot use this server, so that restriction applies before setup.

## Requirements
- Remote server: `https://mcp.lucid.app/mcp`

## Install

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http lucid https://mcp.lucid.app/mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add lucid --url https://mcp.lucid.app/mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "lucid": {
            "url": "https://mcp.lucid.app/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "lucid": {
            "type": "http",
            "url": "https://mcp.lucid.app/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http lucid https://mcp.lucid.app/mcp
```

## When to use it
- search Lucid documents by their content
- summarize a document and its action items
- turn a text description into a diagram
- update shapes in an existing Lucid file
- create a link with selected permissions

## Example prompts
- Search Lucid for documents about the website redesign and summarize the related tasks.
- Create a Lucid diagram showing the user authentication flow.
- In the Lucid escalation-process document, recolor every decision shape and use bold white labels.
