# limps

limps gives AI agents a shared local layer for Markdown files, plans, and task states. Use it when several MCP clients need the same project context.

## What it does

limps connects an agent to any folder containing Markdown files. It exposes document creation, reading, updates, deletion, full-text search, plan tracking, and task status changes. The index uses SQLite while the source files stay in the folder you choose.

The server can be used from Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and other MCP clients. Separate `.limps/config.json` files can target different projects, while several clients can work with the same documents. Initialize a folder with `limps init`; the commands `limps server start`, `limps server stop`, and `limps server status` control the background HTTP daemon.

A folder or configuration change requires a server restart unless the file watcher has refreshed the index. Document processing through `process_doc` and `process_docs` runs JavaScript inside a QuickJS sandbox with no network or Node APIs.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add limps npx -y @sudosandwich/limps
```

## When to use it
- keep plans in a shared folder
- search Markdown files by full text
- track task states across agents
- share project context between MCP clients

## Example prompts
- Create a migration plan and add tasks for the database changes.
- Search the Markdown documents for decisions about authentication.
- Show the current plan status and suggest the next task.
