# Kurlo

Connects your agent to the requests in a Kurlo workspace, so it can send them with auth and tests, add new ones, and explain a failed call.

## What it does

Kurlo is an open-source API client that keeps collections as YAML files inside a Git repo. The MCP server starts with `kurlo mcp` and exposes the requests you already have, auth and tests included. Ask the agent to fire one off, attach an assertion, or trace why the last response came back wrong.

Tokens and keys never reach the model: secrets go to the target API, the context stays clean. The server runs from the `@kurlo/cli` npm package, so the desktop app isn't needed. Imported Postman scripts keep working, since `pm.test`, `pm.expect` with chai and `pm.sendRequest` run unchanged, and `require` resolves bundled stand-ins for `lodash`, `ajv`, `tv4`, `uuid`, `crypto-js` and `chai`. Node.js and `npx` have to be on `PATH` or the server won't start.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- A remote (HTTP) option exists: the address is in the README

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add kurlo -- npx -y @kurlo/cli
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add kurlo -- npx -y @kurlo/cli
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "kurlo": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "@kurlo/cli"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "kurlo": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "@kurlo/cli"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add kurlo npx -y @kurlo/cli
```

## When to use it
- send the requests stored in a collection straight from the agent chat
- attach a test to an existing request and see it pass or fail
- diagnose the last failed call without leaving the editor
- create a new request with the right auth already set
- keep the API collection in Git next to the code it tests

## Example prompts
- Run the `create-order` request from the collection and show me the response
- Add a 200 status and response schema test to `list-users`
- Why did the last `login` call fail? Walk me through the response
