## What it does

kordoc connects 18 tools to the coding agent for handling Korean documents. It reads HWP 3.x, HWP 5.x, HWPX, HWPML, alongside PDF, DOCX, and XLSX files. The server parses merged table cells and extracts text from image scans using local OCR. Markdown notes can also be rendered back into HWPX files using preset templates.

Running this server requires Node.js 20 or newer. It works in isolated networks without remote servers. Setting `KORDOC_OFFLINE=1` cuts all external traffic, running text recognition directly on the CPU without API keys. Installing dependencies with `--omit=optional` strips PDF and OCR features.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

claude mcp add kordoc -- npx -y kordoc
```
### Codex
**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add kordoc -- npx -y kordoc
```
### Cursor
**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "kordoc": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "kordoc"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
### GitHub Copilot
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "kordoc"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add kordoc npx -y kordoc
```

## When to use it
- convert HWP and HWPX files into Markdown while preserving table structures
- extract text from scans and PDF pages without third-party API keys
- diff document revisions across structured blocks and table cells
- build styled HWPX files from Markdown notes using template presets
- audit arithmetic totals in budget tables

## Example prompts
- Read `report.hwpx` and format the second table as Markdown.
- Compare `draft_v1.hwp` against `draft_v2.hwpx` to highlight cell edits.
- Generate `output.hwpx` from `notes.md` using the standard report template.
