# Kinetik UI

Gives your coding agent the Kinetik UI registry of animated React Native and Expo components: search, source and an install plan inside the chat.

## What it does

The server runs through `npx` and speaks stdio. It exposes five tools to the agent: `list_components`, `search_components`, `get_component`, `get_install_plan` and `get_tokens`. Ask for a component by name or category and the agent pulls its source along with instructions for adding it.

The components themselves cover motion and effects for Expo, built on Reanimated 4, Gesture Handler and Skia. Installation copies TypeScript files into your repo, so the code is yours to edit. Native packages go in with `npx expo install`, which keeps them aligned with your Expo SDK.

Your app has to run React Native New Architecture on Expo SDK 54 or newer. On an older setup the server has nothing to offer you. Also check the config snippet: the MCP entry runs `npx -y kinetik-ui` without the `mcp` argument, so verify the tools actually appear before you rely on them.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add kinetik-ui -- npx -y kinetik-ui
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add cli -- npx -y kinetik-ui
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "cli": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "kinetik-ui"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "cli": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "kinetik-ui"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add cli npx -y kinetik-ui
```

## When to use it
- locate an animated component for a specific Expo screen
- pull a component's TypeScript source into the project
- match native dependency versions to the current Expo SDK
- see what an install will touch before running it
- compare local component copies against the registry

## Example prompts
- Search Kinetik UI for animated card components and show me the install steps
- Get me the install plan for `glint-card` and `deckfall`
- Show the tokens and motion presets from the Kinetik UI registry
