## What it does

The server lets an agent inspect devices, telemetry, and diagnostics; provision LoRaWAN or MQTT devices and GPS trackers; and send commands supported by a device. It can also work with automation rules and alarms, query dashboard widget data, and manage organization users. Before deploying a rule, the agent can test it against live sensor values.

Kilo IoT hosts the server, so there is no local server installation. Add it as an HTTP MCP server, then authorize in a browser with a regular Kilo account; the connection inherits that account’s permissions. By default, it follows the organization selected in the Kilo web app. Use an organization-specific endpoint to keep a client tied to one organization. Changes that can affect data require confirmation first.

## Requirements
- Remote server: `https://mcp-auth.kiloiot.io/mcp`

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http kilo https://mcp-auth.kiloiot.io/mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add kilo-iot-platform --url https://mcp-auth.kiloiot.io/mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "kilo-iot-platform": {
            "url": "https://mcp-auth.kiloiot.io/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "kilo-iot-platform": {
            "type": "http",
            "url": "https://mcp-auth.kiloiot.io/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http kilo-iot-platform https://mcp-auth.kiloiot.io/mcp
```

## When to use it
- inspect device telemetry and diagnostics
- provision a LoRaWAN device or GPS tracker
- send a supported command to equipment
- test an automation rule against sensor readings
- review alarms and their execution history

## Example prompts
- List devices in the selected organization and show their diagnostics.
- Test this automation rule against live sensor readings before deployment.
- Show the active alarms and summarize their activity for a shift.
