# mcp

Connect Claude Code to Keboola so an agent can query tables, create SQL transformations, and run jobs. Useful when you want to work with project data through natural-language requests.

## What it does

The server exposes Keboola tools for reading tables and metadata, creating SQL transformations, running components, and checking job details. Agents can also inspect component configurations and work with flows. For instance, you can ask an agent to find relevant data and then run a transformation.

Claude Code can connect to the hosted server over HTTP. On first use, sign in to your Keboola account and authorize the connection; choose a project in the conversation afterward. HTTP headers can restrict available tools, including a read-only mode.

To target a development branch, include `X-Branch-Id` in every request. Without that header, the server uses the production branch, so check the client’s branch handling before asking it to make project changes.

## Requirements
- Needs: Python and uv (commands run via uvx)
- Remote server: `https://mcp.us-east4.gcp.keboola.com/mcp`

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http mcp https://mcp.us-east4.gcp.keboola.com/mcp
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add keboola-mcp -- uvx keboola-mcp-server
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from keboola-mcp-server <command>

### Codex

1. **Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add keboola-mcp --url https://mcp.us-east4.gcp.keboola.com/mcp
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add keboola-mcp -- uvx keboola-mcp-server
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from keboola-mcp-server <command>

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:

```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from keboola-mcp-server <command>
## When to use it
- find tables and inspect their data
- create a SQL transformation from a task description
- run a component and inspect its job details
- review project component configurations
- limit an agent to read-only tools
## Example prompts
- Find the tables containing order data and show their fields.
- Create a SQL transformation that counts orders by day.
- Run the component and show me the job details.
