# brightspace

## What it does

brightspace exposes D2L Brightspace to MCP clients. An agent can inspect courses, grades, assignments, rubrics, feedback, course content, files, and calendar data. The server also covers actions for submitting work, publishing posts, and marking.

It runs through `npx brightspace-mcp@latest`. Authentication can use an API token, a headless username-and-password flow, Playwright with headless Chromium, or session cookies. MFA options include TOTP, Duo Push, and manual approval. Node.js 20 or newer is required.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Environment variables: `BRIGHTSPACE_CONFIG` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.
